Welcome to Esbjerg and Esbjerg Statsskole
In a European context Esbjerg is a fairly young city. The harbor was founded in 1868 and fishing and trade became the most important occupations. Today our harbor is still important, now mainly due to the fact that we are the main city for Denmark's oil and offshore activities in the North Sea. Our part of the country is also attractive for tourists with our long, white beaches and cosy villages. Many tourists spend their vacations here even though we can't promise them a warm and sunny holiday! Our offshore activities combined with the intense focus on tourism makes Esbjerg and its inhabitants a community with an international perspective.
Esbjerg Statsskole is the city´s oldest high school. The first group of students graduated from Esbjerg Statsskole in 1910. The school is the alma mater of several generations of citizens. Today it holds approximately 600 students from their 1st to 3rd year of high school. We offer an all-round education combined with several extra-curricular activities e.g. concerts, sports, dances and balls, student clubs etc.
